Nick Cave on his notebooks:

My notebooks, which are predominantly a collection of failed ideas, nevertheless hold great value to me. They are proof of life.

Proof of life indeed. This is why I keep notes. So I can look back. Notes are for remembering. For when my memory fails, as it always does.
