I've never been into anything hard enough to argue over what might be canon or not.

I like too many things. For example, I like Tinderbox and Emacs equally for keeping a Daybook. It's maddening to try and choose just one.

One of Tinderbox's many little unsung features are the small note icons that appear next to each note.

They pack a ton of useful info into a tiny space. They show whether a note contains text, how much, and if there are inbound or outbound links. They also "yellow" with age, so I can see at a glance which are new and which are old. It's subtle, clever, and very useful.
